Welcome to Lake Fork , Texas. Lake Fork has not only produced the Texas record Large Mouth Bass, It has also produced more bass over 13 lbs than any other Texas lake. Bass fishing is great but so is the Crappie and Catfish fishing LAKE FORK holds 15 of the top 20 Texas State Record Largemouth Bass. In 1980 it was impounded and reached it's normal pool surface elevation of 403.0 above sea leavel in 1985. It contains 27,690 surface acres, located in Wood and Rains County in Northeast Texas, between the towns of Alba, Emory, Quitman and Yantis, Texas. Lake Fork offers 315 miles of shoreline and has a drainage area of 493 miles. The dam is 12,410 feet in length and impounds Lake Fork Creek, a tributary of the Sabine River, and other major creeks are Big Caney and Little Caney. Lake Fork, is known throughout the world as a premier Largemouth Bass fishing lake. Visitors are surprised to discover that it is also one of the best Crappie fishing lakes in the world. It is also host to outstanding Catfish fishing. One can easily catch a limit of Catfish almost anywhere in the lake. The Texas State record Largemouth Bass was caught in Lake Fork. There are numerous marinas, tackle shops, and motels. For those not fishing, there is great antiquing in nearby Mineola or Gladewater. Tyler has all the shopping convenience of any large city and, of course, the Dallas / Ft. Worth metroplex is only an hour and a half drive away.
